Learning objectives
The aim of the course is to acquaint the mining students with the basic concepts of the technology of preparation, excavation and loading in surface mines, methods of open pits openings, technological and working parameters of continuous and discontinuous mining machinery when working in the open pits, dump and deposition technology, reliability of mining mechanization, drainage, ventilation, reclamation and the ecological effects of surface exploitation.
Learning outcomes
The student will to acquire the skills: for the choosing of optimal place and opening of pit, optimal equipment and technology for preparing materials for loading, excavation, transport and waste dump and mineral raw materials, depositing and homogenization of mineral raw materials, selection of the exploitation system, the reliability of the operation of mining machinery and open pit, drainage methods and pit aeration, recultivation of surfaces degraded by surface mining, and taking measures to reduce the harmful impact of surface exploitation of mineral raw materials on the environment.
Content
Classification of deposits suitable for surface exploitation. Classification of open pits. Preparation of materials for loading. Mechanical disintegration by ripping. Disintegration of rocks by blasting. Excavation and loading technique and technology. Technological and working parameters of equipment with discontinuous operation, technology of their operation and capacity calculation. Technological and working parameters of equipment with continuous operation, technology of their operation and capacity calculation. Haulage on the surface pits. Specific technologies of surface exploitation. Excavation with hydromonitors, floating excavators. Technique and technology of exploitation of the stone blocks. Hydraulic exploitation with boreholes. Technology of delaying and excavation from tailings. Equipment for continuous operation for tailings, types of equipment and its operating parameters. Determination of tailings parameters. Disposal of tailings during surface mining. Reliability of machine operation in the surface exploitation. Laws on the distribution of failures. Evaluation of the reliability of the operation of mining machinery. Drainage of the surface mines. Ventilation of the surface mines. Reclamation of the surface mines. Opening of the surface mines. Development of the front of mining works according to plan and depth. Systems of surface exploitation. The ecological effects of surface exploitation. The impact of surface mining on the environment.
Teaching Methods
The theoretical lectures, computational exercises, colloquiums/tests and seminar work. The program is made easier for the student by studying in consultation with the teacher and assistant.
