On 30 November 2018, the 11th International ‘Students Encountering Science’ (StES) conference was closed with the award-winning ceremony for best papers presented.
In the field of humanities, Ms Marija Djurdjevic of the University of Belgrade was awarded, whereas two University of Novi Sad students, Ms Jovana Knezevic and Mr Predrag Kuzmanovic, were the best in the category of sciences.
Mr Dejan Dugic of the University of Banja Luka wrote the best paper in social sciences, Ms Milica Jaksic, Mr Miljan Scepovic, and Mr Filip Simic of the University of Pristina (with temporary seat in Kosovska Mitrovica, Autonomous Province of Kosovo and Metohija) presented the best paper in medical sciences, while Ms Lejla Kolasinac and Mr Fatih Djorovic of this University were awarded for the clinical panel session, with Ms Milica Knezevic and Mr Igor Kelecevic of the University of Novi Sad were the best in the preclinical one.
With regard to engineering and technological sciences, the award was handed to Ms Suzana Cetojevic and Ms Irena Haverljuk of the University of Banja Luka, whereas Ms Dragana Boskovic beat the competition in the category of biotechnical and agricultural sciences.
The awards were handed by members of staff and representatives of the University of Banja Luka, with Prof. Valerija Saula, PhD, Prof. Mirjana Arezina, PhD, and Prof. Nela Raseta Simovic, PhD awarding the winners in the category of social sciences, humanities, and medical sciences respectively.
Prof. Luka Kecman, PhD, Vice-Rector for Human and Material Resources of the University of Banja Luka, awarded the winner in the category of engineering and technological sciences, and Prof. Dusko Jojic, PhD awarded the one in the field of sciences.
When biotechnical sciences are concerned, the awards were handed by Mr Aleksandar Vuckovic, Chairman of the Organisational Committee of the Conference.
This year’s event gathered students from Pristina (Kosovska Mitrovica), Belgrade, Nis, Novi Sad, Sarajevo, Prijedor, Bihac, Czech Republic, and Banja Luka, with 74 papers entered into competition (25 in the form of abstract). Its interdisciplinary character provides students of all study cycles and affinities with an opportunity to promote their own scientific achievements and gain insight into the achievements of their colleagues as well.
The conference is organised by the Students’ Parliament of the University of Banja Luka and the University of Banja Luka, under the auspices of the Ministry of Education and Culture and Science and Technology of the Republic of Srpska respectively.
