Learning objectives
Acquiring knowledge in the field of methods of exploitation of mineral raw materials, properties and assessment of deposits of mineral raw materials from the point of view of exploitation.
Learning outcomes
Engineering knowledge for understanding the Earth's environment, recognizing and dealing with environmental hazards in the exploitation of natural resources while preserving the environment, and Earth research. Understanding and applying the necessary knowledge and skills in the field of geology. Aggregation, interpretation and independent presentation of data, taking into account the moral and ethical principles of studying nature. Use of techniques, skills and modern software tools in geological and engineering practice. Work independently or in a team composed of experts from different profiles.
Content
History, place and role of mining Basic technical and technological terms of activity. Properties and assessments of deposits of mineral deposits from the point of view exploitation. Exploitation methods Criteria for the selection of the exploitation method. Surface and underground exploitation, similarities, differences and distinctions between them. Unconventional ways of exploitation of solid mineral raw materials. Risks. Economic aspects of the activity. Underground exploitation - basic principles. Mining and technical concepts. Divisions and classifications. Phases of underground exploitation and techno-economic aspects of underground exploitation Surface exploitation - basic principles. Mining and technical conceots. Technological procedures in surface exploitation. Methods and techno-economic aspects of surface exploitation. Elaboration of studies.
Teaching Methods
Lectures and exercises are conducted using audio-visual methods. Mastering the material in exercises, with the preparation of tests and visits to mines with surface and underground exploitation.
