FloodsUniversity of Banja LukaOn 23 May, the Faculty of Civil Engineering of the Czech Technical University of Prague sent valuable equipment for sanitizing the flood affected areas and objects. This help was delivered at the address of the University of Banja Luka. The Vice-rector for international relations, Mr Karel Paveleka, and the representative of administrative personnel, Ms Romana Pavelekova, sent more than two tons of humanitarian aid, including aggregates, wall dryers, various disinfectants, protective footwear and clothes, masks as well as various tools.
The Faculty of Civil Engineering of the Czech Technical University of Prague has established a successful cooperation with the Faculty of Architecture and Civil Engineering (the FACE) and once the FACE informed its partner about the situation in the Republic of Srpska, the management and administration of this Faculty immediately responded, and, within a short period of time, sent extremely significant aid.
Apart from the management of the Faculty from Banja Luka led by Dean Milenko Stankovic, the representatives of the Faculty from Prague were welcomed by Vice-rectors Mr Ljubisa Preradovic, Mr Simo Jokanovic, Ms Maja Dodig, and a member of the Headquarters for coordination of assistance to the people affected by the floods, Mr Milan Mataruga and Mr. Mladen Amovic, the Head of the Students’ Parliament of the University of Banja Luka. All of them expressed their gratitude to their partner for the help they provided.
“It is very pleasant to know that in this difficult situation we have friends. Moreover, I am pleased to say that our Faculty has a good cooperation with your Faculty in Prague. This gesture of yours confirms the fact that this cooperation is a genuine one rather than a formal one, which often is the case. I hope that through the future cooperation you will have some benefits, too, though we wish you will never be in a situation to ask for such kind of a help”, said Vice-rector Jokanovic.
After the two parties exchanged the words of support, Vice-rector Mataruga also expressed his gratitude. He also informed the guests about the current situation in the flooded areas, and about many activities the students and employees of the University of Banja Luka had been conducting during the past few days aimed at cleaning the flood affected areas and providing assistance to the people from these areas.
