Learning objectives | ||||
The aim of the course is to acquaint the mining students with the basic concepts of hydrotechnics as well as the technique and technology of drainage systems - equipment and hydrotechnical facilities for drainage in underground and surface mines. | ||||
Learning outcomes | ||||
The student will to acquire: the practical and theoretical skills for the choice of the best technical solutions in the drainage system of underground and surface mines, knowledge of mine drainage equipment, ability to planning and development of mine drainage projects, and knowledge of the safety and economic aspects of mine drainage. | ||||

Basics of hydrology, hydraulics, hydrogeology and groundwater dynamics. Drainage areas, precipitation, water level and runoff. Hydrostatic pressure. Hydrodynamics. Fluid flow. Hydraulic resistances. Friction losses. Local losses. Physical properties of rock masses. Hydrogeological properties of the rocks. Ability to absorb water. Generosity and permeability. Free underground water. Well waters. Underground water movement. Wells. Characteristics and types of wells. Calculations of the amount of water flowing into the wells. Inflow of water into mine rooms.
