Learning objectives
Acquiring practical and theoretical knowledge in the area of assessing the impact of the exploitation of mineral deposits on the environment.
Learning outcomes
Knowledge of legislation related to environmental impact assessment. Knowledge of impact assessment methods. Ability to predict the quantitative changes in the environment (air, water, soil, impact of noise level and vibrations). Training in risk assessment (hazard identification, hazard assessment, exposure scenario, risk characterization, risk management).

- Introductory notes related to the study of the mining exploitation impact on the environment. - Institutional aspects. Environmental impact assessments. - Legal regulation of impact assessment. Standards. The instructions and procedures. - Standards. The environmental instructions and procedures. - Regulations related to environmental impact assessment. - Environmental Impact Assessment Methods. Approaches in impact prediction. The prediction methods. - Prediction of quantitative environmental changes. - Risks in environmental impact assessment. Risk assessment. - Population health risk assessment. Environmental risk assessment. - Sociological and economic impact. - Environmental impact monitoring program. - Configuration of the monitoring system. - Parameters for determining harmful effects on the environment. - Locality, method and frequency of measurement of determined parameters. - Environmental management plan. Preparation of environmental impact assessment reports.
Teaching Methods
Teaching takes place through theoretical lectures, laboratory and field exercises, seminar work and colloquiums/tests. Consultations with a teacher and an assistant are also provided for students as an additional form of learning.
