Learning objectives | ||||
The main goal of the course is to acquaint students with key concepts, principles and problems of sustainability and resilience of the built environment in various areas dealing with space, as well as examples of their application in urban and architectural practice. More precisely, the aim of the course is to study: - the concept of sustainable development, its social, economic and environmental aspects; - spatial dimensions of sustainable development through all spatial levels: from regional, city, urban block levels, to buildings; - problems of climate change and its impact on different spatial levels; - influencing factors on urban form; - the concept of sustainability through the model of integrated planning; - possibilities for improving the planning methodology in the conditions of climate change; - principles of planning and construction in accordance with the principles of energy efficiency. | ||||
Learning outcomes | ||||
-Developed awareness of the idea of sustainable development; - Ability to identify problems in space that are the result of climate change and other aspects that disrupt sustainability in built environments; - Comprehensive knowledge of the influencing factors on the urban form and their interaction, from the domain of natural, economic and social contextual conditions; - Understanding the importance and role of sustainable spatial development in the context of sustainability; - Comprehensive knowledge of integrated planning methods; - Ability and skills of analysis and critical thinking on the representation of the principles of integrated planning and sustainability in the plans of various spatial levels; - Ability and skills to work in multidisciplinary teams in the field of sustainable spatial development planning at different spatial levels. | ||||

Within the theoretical part of the course, the following topics will be covered: - Introduction to the subject and field of research, basic concepts of sustainability, - Sustainable economic and social development, - Sustainable environmental development, climate change, - Strategies for sustainable spatial development of regions and municipalities, - Strategies of sustainable urban development, - Influencing factors on urban form, - Planning of sustainable city development / ecological, economic, social, functional, - Urban renewal in the function of sustainable development, - Planning methodology - regional level, - Planning methodology - urban level, - Integral planning in the function of sustainable development, - Concept of protection against climate change in spatial planning, - Concept of flood protection in spatial planning through all spatial levels, - Energy efficiency in spatial planning and construction. | ||||
