Learning objectives | ||||
Introduction to the groundwater hydraulics and transport of pollutants. Introduction to the basic principles of design and construction of groundwater extraction facilities, procedures and facilities for monitoring groundwater quality. Introduction to methods for groundwater quality revitalization.
Learning outcomes | ||||
Students' ability to independently design groundwater exploitation facilities (wells), to prepare groundwater resource risk analysis.
Content | ||||
Introduction. Main characteristics of porous medium. Basic laws of occurrence and movement of groundwater. Basic mechanisms of distribution of pollution in the subsurface. Experimental methods for determination of hydrogeological parameters of porous medium. Well hydraulics. Multiphase flow in a porous medium. Application of numerical models. Practical examples. Practical teaching: A compilation of 10 computational exercises to accompany the lectures.
Teaching Methods | ||||
Lectures with presentation technology. Method units are followed by appropriate descriptive or computational examples or real-life examples. Exercise classes begin with brief explanations and then students do the tasks individually or in small groups.
