| Learning objectives | ||||
| Within the sociology of culture will be discussed: the concept of culture, the relationship between culture and society, the functions of culture in society, cultural needs and values, cultural processes such as: socialization and conformism, ethnocentrism and cultural relativism, multiculturalism and interculturalism; cultural conflicts, culture of tolerance, subculture, counterculture. Students will become familiar with the characteristics of mass and popular culture, as well as lifestyles. A separate teaching unit will be dedicated to antifeminism in culture. Within the sociology of art, the subject, goals and tasks of this scientific field will be covered, and attention will be paid to the reproduction of a work of art in the context of a consumer society. | ||||
| Learning outcomes | ||||
| Students will be able to understand and independently analyze basic concepts of culture and the most important cultural phenomena, independently monitor basic theoretical and empirical achievements within the framework of sociological and related cultural research, with special emphasis on contemporary theories and societies, acquire comprehensive knowledge and a critical approach to cultural processes, art and changes that affect the social landscape of contemporary societies, as well as independently judge contemporary dilemmas and issues in this field. Within the sociology of art, students will be able to understand and analyze the social conditioning of works of art, and some of the art forms. | ||||

| Evaluation and grading | ||||
| Knowledge is assessed during the semester, in the form of pre-examination requirements, as well as at the end of the semester, in the final exam, during regular exam periods. The final exam is open to all students who have fulfilled the pre-examination requirements. The final exam is organized orally. The pre-examination requirements consist of: two (2) tests (20 points each), activities during classes and exercises (5 points) and regular attendance of the course (5 points). A total of 50 points can be achieved from the pre-examination requirements. The final grade for the course is calculated by adding the points from the pre-examination requirements (maximum 50) and the points from the exam (maximum 50). Depending on the number of points achieved, the final grade is formed according to the Rules of Study in the First and Second Cycle of Studies at the University of Banja Luka. | ||||
