Learning objectives
The course introduces students to the understanding of the category of gender in academic study, as an analytical theoretical category of thinking about society and relations in it - understanding contemporary society and gender relations in society, as a socially shaped interaction between men and women from a feminist perspective. Students will be introduced to feminism as an epistemological alternative to the patriarchal discourse and worldview, as well as the possibility of implementing egalitarianism in contemporary gender relations.
Learning outcomes
A student who passes the exam is able to independently perceive the difference between sex (a biological property of a person) and gender (a social construct - the social, cultural and historical determination of gender differences in society) and the socio-cultural consequences of those differences - a product of a given social and cultural context, but also the elements that shape social reality, and to perceive relations in society/power relations from the perspective of gender.

Introduction to gender studies; Feminist waves and orientations: three waves of feminism - historical and social context; Feminist epistemology and methodology; Feminist waves, orientations and movements in Yugoslav and Serbian society in the 20th century; Feminisms - overview of individual orientations: classical liberal feminism; Anarchist feminism; Existentialist feminism; Liberal feminism in the 20th century; Radical feminism; Marxist and socialist feminism; Postmodern feminism; Queer theory and feminism; Ecofeminism; Cyberfeminism; Current gender topics and theoretical applications: gender and politics, gender and law, gender and education, gender and violence, gender and identity, gender and multiculturalism, gender and disability, etc.
Teaching Methods
Lectures as a form of transmission of systematic knowledge from literature. During the lectures, a power-point presentation of the main theses and illustrations of some examples will be used. Illustrations and exercises. In addition to the examples that will be discussed, the classes will also include examples (solving problem tasks) that will illustrate and practice certain topics (in groups and individually). The illustration and exercises involve two-way communication, and students are invited to freely express their opinions about the case for the illustration and exercise. Discussion of cases from practice. The main form of work will be the processing of cases from practice, so that students learn to use the acquired knowledge for practical purposes. Preparation and presentation of a seminar paper with the obligatory application of the methodology for the preparation of professional papers.

Class attendance: 0 - 5 points; Class activity (seminar work, discussions, case studies): 0 - 5 points; Colloquium I: 0 – 20 points; Colloquy II: 0 – 20 points; Final exam: 0 - 50 points.
