Visit of the Director of the Bavarian Office for Forest Seeding and Planting to the University of Banja Luka

Dr Monika Konnert, Director of the Bavarian Office for Forest Seeding and Planting from Teisendorf, Germany, paid a working visit to the University of Banja Luka in the period of April 22-24 2015.



On the first day of her visit Dr Konnert gave a lecture on forest seeding to the students of the Faculty of Forestry, based upon the research and experiences of the aforementioned Office. It is due to Dr Konnert that the Faculty has established a productive cooperation with the Office, the highlight of which being an opportunity given to two PhD students from the Faculty to do the necessary research using the facilities of the Office. After the lecture, Dr Konnert was presented the activities of the University at the meeting held in the Rectorate.



The Office is in charge of all tasks and measures regarding the forest seeding in Bavaria, which implies providing genetic material and maintaining forest diversity in Bavaria. More information on this partner institution is available at www.asp.bavern.de.



During her visit, Dr Konnert had a meeting with Mr Srdjan Kasic, General Manager of a unit within the public utility company in charge of forests (JP ‘Sume Republike Srpske), who informed the honourable guest about the way the Company was organized, the structure of forests in the Republic of Srpska, as well as about the activities of the unit itself.



Dr Konnert also visited the Tamaris, a private landscape architecture company, where she discussed the production and distribution of decorative trees and bushes, as well as maintenance of the greenery in the city of Banja Luka.
