Half a Century of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering
University of Banja LukaGeneralThe solemn academy in honour of marking 50 years of work and development of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Banja Luka was held on 11 November 2021 in the lecturing hall of this higher education institution.
Rector of the University of Banja Luka Prof. Radoslav Gajanin, PhD, emphasized that the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering has been successfully working and educating high-quality staff for 50 years now.
,,The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering successfully cooperates with the corporate, which other faculties should also do. There are almost no unemployed mechanical engineers on the labour market“, Rector Gajanin said.
Prime Minister of the Republic of Srpska Radovan Višković stated that the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, as a prestigious educational institution, has yielded staff that has made a great contribution to the development of the Republic of Srpska with their work in the corporate.
,,I believe that the two public universities will educate as many professional staff as possible, which will be the future of the Republic of Srpska. The institutions of the Republic of Srpska enabled the students of the generation to get their first job immediately, and it will continue doing it“, Višković said and emphasized that the Government helps implement significant projects at public universities in the Republic of Srpska.
Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, University of Banja Luka, Prof. Aleksandar Milašinović, PhD, states that this is a modern higher education institution in which classes are conducted in all three cycles of studies in accordance with the principles of the Bologna Declaration.
The solemn academy was attended by numerous guests, among whom Vice-Rector for Teaching and Student Affairs of the University of Banja Luka Prof. Strain Posavljak, PhD, Secretary General to the University Đorđe Markez, MA, and Financial Director of the University of Banja Luka Duško Lazić.
Before the solemn academy, the graduates of the first and second cycle of studies at this faculty were promoted.
In five decades of work, diplomas of this faculty were awarded to 2265 students of the first cycle of studies, 57 masters of technical sciences, and 45 doctors of technical sciences. Today, the Faculty educates engineering staff in five study programs of undergraduate academic studies, namely: Production Engineering, Energy and Traffic Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering and Occupational Safety. Today, the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering has over 600 students, ten departments, 14 laboratories and a Centre for Corporate Support.
