Day of Open Doors and Faculties Festival: Secondary Schools seniors visited UNIBL
HighlightsUpisThe Day of Open Doors at the University of Banja Luka (UNIBL) and the Faculties Festival was held on 11 April 2025 and gathered the senior students of secondary schools from all over the Republic of Srpska, who had a chance to get acquainted with the possibilities of studying on this leading university in the region, and find out more about the programs available to future students.
The Rector of the University of Banja Luka, Prof. Radoslav Gajanin, PhD, stressed the importance of this manifestation as one of the most important opportunities to present the study programs to future students, particularly those referring to deficit vocations.
“The Day of Open Doors is one of the ways to bring the University closer to all who think about their education and future. We wanted the final year pupils of secondary schools to feel the atmosphere of an academic community and recognize the University of Banja Luka as a place where they can grow, learn and build their career”, said Rector Gajanin, on an event held in the Sports Hall of the University of Banja Luka.
He added that the University of Banja Luka is characterized by academic quality, research achievements and innovations, but most importantly, dedication to students.
“The University offers knowledge that is competitive in the European labor market”, said Assistant Minister of Scientific Technological Development and Higher Education, Jelena Starčević, PhD.
She stressed that future students have an opportunity to get informed about the offered study programs and invited all secondary school students from the Republic of Srpska and BiH to apply and enroll in studies at the University of Banja Luka.
“Modernized study programs at the University of Banja Luka offer the latest knowledge harmonized with programs at the most prestigious European and other higher education institutions”, said Starčević.
She also pointed out the new study program at the University of Banja Luka – Agriculture, which lasts four years and is a deficit profession for which students receive a 200 KM scholarship and a possibility of employment after completing their studies. According to her words, this year the University secured 1.844 budget-funded places, while there are a total of 2.500 places including part-time and foreign students.
The Chairman of the Students’ Parliament at the University of Banja Luka, Ana Sibinčić, said that the day of Open Doors is very important for secondary school seniors, as it helps them to make an informed decision about their future.
“This important event, highly positioned in the Calendar of activities of the Students’ Parliament and the whole Academic community of our University, is held within the manifestation Days of students at the University of Banja Luka, which is taking place from 7 to 17 April 2025. Days of Students are the largest students’ event in the Republic of Srpska and the region, and is organized by the Students’ Parliament at the University of Banja Luka and the Union of Students of the Republic of Srpska. It is supported by the University of Banja Luka and the Ministry for Scientific Technological Development and Higher Education of the Republic of Srpska, said Sibinčić.
The Vice-President of the Union of Students of the Republic of Srpska, Nikola Šobot, said that the goal of the manifestation is to present all that the University has to offer.
“All the faculties of the University organized presentations, tours of their laboratories and cabinets, as well as talks to professors and students. The secondary school seniors received information about enrolment procedures, scholarships, student exchange, and possibilities of employment after studies”, said Šobot.
The event was also attended by the vice-Rectors of the University, Prof. Milica Balaban, PhD; Prof. Dalibor Kesić, PhD and Prof. Aleksandar Ostojić, PhD.
