Across: Visit of the delegation of the Faculty of Forestry to Bialystok

A delegation of the Faculty of Forestry of the University of Banja Luka visited the Institute of Forestry – Department of forest management in Hajnówka, which is a member of the University of Bialystok in Poland.

The delegations of the Faculty of Forestry were the Dean, Prof. Vojislav Dukić, PhD, Vice-Dean for Scientific Research Activity, Prof. Branislav Cvjetković, PhD, Exchange program coordinator, Prof. Danijela Petrović, PhD, and Senior Assistant, Srđan Bilić, MA.

The delegation was hosted by the Head of Cathedra for forest management, Engineer Aleh Marozay, PhD. 

Members of the delegation were acquainted with the actual research, and they were presented with patents for cancer treatment based on active compounds from mushrooms. 

As a part of the field activity, they visited the ex-situ field planted with progeny of Silver fir (Abies alba) from the Carpathians, and a portion populated with Pedunculate oak (Quercus Robur) with samples of high-quality trees. The delegation also visited the plant nursery, where they saw the process of producing the seeds and planting material.

Concrete activities were agreed the exchange of academic staff, including the planned visit of the University of Bialystok professors to Banja Luka in July.

This visit was realized as a significant step in strengthening the interuniversity cooperation in the field of forestry, and as an incentive for further joint scientific research and academic activities.

The visit was organized within the program of the Across alliance, where the University of Banja Luka is a partner.
