Meeting Between the Rector and the Ambassador of Turkey to Bosnia and Herzegovina

The Rector of the University of Banja Luka, Prof. Radoslav Gajanin, PhD, met on 12 May 2026 with the Ambassador of Turkey to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Emin Akseki.

During the meeting held at the Rectorate of the University, discussions focused on the existing cooperation and possibilities for its further enhancement between the University of Banja Luka and higher education institutions in Turkey. Particular emphasis was placed on strengthening academic ties, the exchange of teaching and research staff, as well as expanding cooperation in the field of joint scientific research projects.

Among other things, the interlocutors agreed that there is significant room for further improvement of cooperation and that, in the coming period, a list of interested faculties of the University of Banja Luka should be submitted in order to establish and further develop cooperation with corresponding higher education institutions in Turkey. As highlighted during the meeting, there are especially strong opportunities for cooperation in the fields of agriculture, medicine, and technical sciences.

Rector Gajanin pointed out that the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the University of Banja Luka and Kırklareli University is expected later this month, which will further formalize and strengthen institutional cooperation and open new opportunities for joint activities.

The meeting also addressed the organization of Turkish language courses, which had previously been successfully implemented at the Faculty of Philology.

The meeting was attended by the Secretary General of the University, Josif Ilić, and the Consul General of Turkey in Banja Luka, Can Aygün.
