As part of the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Faculty of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy at the University of Banja Luka, professors from the Institute for Water Education in Delft delivered lectures on contemporary challenges in wastewater management and climate change adaptation, presenting students and professionals with the latest global experiences in these fields.
The lectures were held on 29 June 2026 as part of the program commemorating three decades of the Faculty’s work and brought together students, academic staff, as well as representatives of public institutions and the private sector.
The Dean of the Faculty of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy, Prof. Saša Čvoro, PhD, emphasized that the visit of professors from Delft University represents confirmation of successful international cooperation and provides an opportunity for students and professionals to acquire new knowledge in areas of great importance for the development of the profession.
Prof. Damir Brđanović spoke about the management of fecal sludge and septic sludge, highlighting that insufficient attention is often paid to the treatment of sludge transported to wastewater treatment plants by tanker trucks after the facilities have been constructed, which can create serious operational challenges for the system. Prof. Zoran Vojinović addressed climate change adaptation, presenting nature-based solutions for mitigating the effects of floods and droughts and emphasizing their growing importance in modern water management.
The guest lectures formed part of the program marking the 30th anniversary of the Faculty of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy and served as another confirmation of the importance of international cooperation in advancing education, research, and the exchange of professional expertise.
