AHEDIS Project Presented

The Erasmus+ project “Advancing Higher Education through Digital Innovation and Smart Technologies” (AHEDIS), aimed at strengthening the digital competencies of academic staff and modernizing higher education, was presented on 13 July 2026 at the Rectorate of the University of Banja Luka (UNIBL).

The project was presented to the University of Banja Luka’s vice-rectors and their associates by Ivana Todorović of the Center for Biomedical Research at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Banja Luka. The presentation was attended by Vice-Rector for Human and Material Resources Prof. Dalibor Kesić, PhD, Vice-Rector for Teaching, Student Affairs and Quality Prof. Milica Balaban, PhD, Vice-Rector for International and Inter-University Cooperation Prof. Kristina Pantelić Babić, PhD, Vice-Dean for Research and International Cooperation at the Faculty of Medicine Prof. Maja Travar, PhD, and Head of the Pharmacy Study Program Prof. Žarko Gagić, PhD.

The presentation provided an opportunity to exchange information on the planned activities and expected results of the project, as well as to discuss the role of the University of Banja Luka in the implementation of this international initiative, which will contribute to the enhancement of the teaching process and the digital transformation of higher education.

As stated during the presentation, the AHEDIS project is focused on improving the digital competencies of academic staff at four higher education institutions – the University of Banja Luka, the University of Sarajevo, the University of Montenegro, and the University of Donja Gorica. In cooperation with partners from the European Union, comprehensive training programs for teaching staff will be organized, alongside the digital transformation of courses through the application of the flipped classroom approach and artificial intelligence-based solutions.

A special component of the project relates to the development of lifelong learning programs intended for healthcare professionals and academic staff in the field of healthcare. Through the application of artificial intelligence and modern pedagogical approaches, the project will enhance the quality of teaching, develop digital competencies, and foster innovation in the healthcare sector.

The project is coordinated by the University of Sarajevo, while the partners include the University of Banja Luka, the University of Montenegro, the University of Donja Gorica, the University of Zagreb, the University of Ljubljana, HTWG Konstanz University of Applied Sciences (Germany), the Verlab Research Institute, the BRAVO Association, Sarajevo Pharmacies Public Institution, the Dr Miroslav Zotović Institute for Physical Medicine, Rehabilitation and Orthopedic Surgery in Banja Luka, and the Institute of Public Health of Montenegro.
