The University of Banja Luka (UNIBL), through its Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, successfully delivered four cycles of the “Advanced Lean Six Sigma” course for industry representatives as part of the Erasmus+ project “Development of Research and Education in Industrial Engineering for a Knowledge Society” (DERHE).

The courses were held from April to June 2026 and were attended by employees of EL Promet (Laktaši), Lanaco (Banja Luka), Kolektor CCL (Laktaši), Mahle (Laktaši), TIKT (Gradiška), PMP Jelšingrad – FMG (Gradiška), and PMP Drive Systems (Laktaši).

Certificates of successful completion were awarded to 34 participants following a ten-day training program comprising 45 hours of instruction. The course was delivered through a blended learning model, consisting of five days of online lectures and five days of practical training conducted at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Banja Luka and at the participating companies.

The course instructors were Prof. Zorana Tanasić, PhD, Prof. Goran Janjić, PhD, and M.Sc. Maja Vuković of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Banja Luka. Through theoretical lectures, practical examples, serious games, and case-study work, they provided participants with contemporary knowledge and practical experience in the field of Lean Six Sigma methodology.

The objective of the course was to develop competencies for the application of Lean Six Sigma methodology in improving business processes, products, and services through waste reduction, increased efficiency, and the creation of added value for customers.

The program covered the application of the DMAIC methodology, statistical tools for process analysis, Value Stream Mapping (VSM), the identification of waste and bottlenecks, root cause analysis using the 8D method, as well as the development and implementation of process improvement measures.

Through case studies and the completion of practical assignments within their companies, participants acquired the knowledge and skills required to independently lead process improvement projects and work effectively in teams.

By implementing this program, the University of Banja Luka and its Faculty of Mechanical Engineering continue to strengthen cooperation with industry and contribute to the development of professional competencies essential for enhancing the competitiveness of domestic companies.
