Latest Insights into the Role of Fungi Presented at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics

On 30 June 2026, the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics of the University of Banja Luka hosted a lecture by Assoc. Prof. Ewa Zapora, PhD, from the Bialystok University of Technology, entitled "Mycoinnovations: How Fungi Are Changing the World and Our Lives?". The lecture presented the latest scientific findings on the role of fungi and their increasingly diverse applications in science, technology, and everyday life.

The event was attended by students, academic staff, researchers, and other interested participants, who had the opportunity to learn about current research in this field and engage in discussions with the lecturer on contemporary scientific topics.

Assoc. Prof. Ewa Zapora, PhD, visited the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics from 29 June to 3 July 2026 as part of the Erasmus+ mobility programme. During her stay, interactive meetings and professional discussions were held with members of the Biology and Chemistry study programmes, focusing on opportunities to strengthen cooperation between the two higher education institutions. Particular emphasis was placed on developing joint research activities and creating new opportunities for the mobility of students, academic, and administrative staff through international exchange programmes.

As part of the study visit, meetings were also organised with representatives of the Faculty of Forestry, the Institute of Genetic Resources of the University of Banja Luka, and the Office of the Vice-Rector for International and Inter-University Cooperation of the University of Banja Luka. The discussions focused on expanding institutional cooperation and identifying opportunities for future joint activities.

The Bialystok University of Technology is a partner institution of the University of Banja Luka and a member of the ACROSS Alliance, further contributing to stronger international academic cooperation, knowledge exchange, and the development of joint initiatives.

The study visit of Assoc. Prof. Ewa Zapora, PhD, marks another important step in strengthening the international cooperation of the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, creating new opportunities for academic exchange, joint research projects, and the professional development of academic staff, researchers, and students.
