A Memorandum of Understanding between the Faculty of Philology of the University of Banja Luka and the British Council was signed on August 21, 2026, with the aim of improving the education and training of future English language teachers and strengthening international cooperation in this field.

The Memorandum was signed by Dean of the Faculty of Philology Prof. Biljana Babić, PhD, and British Council Director for Cultural Engagement in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Amila Karavdić.

As stated in the Memorandum, signed at the Faculty of Philology, cooperation will focus on improving the training of future English language teachers before they enter the workforce, promoting the development of education, and encouraging innovation in teaching practice.

The Memorandum provides for the exchange of expertise, resources, and support, as well as the implementation of joint activities, including curriculum development, organization of workshops and seminars, research activities, and development of teaching materials.

Particular emphasis will be placed on developing the practical skills of future teachers, applying innovative methodologies and digital tools in teaching, and organizing training and exchange programs with international experts. The cooperation will also provide support to students and professors in implementing their project ideas in a real-world work environment.

Prior to the signing of the Memorandum, Acting Rector of the University of Banja Luka Prof. Ranko Škrbić, PhD, received British Council representatives Amila Karavdić, Director for Cultural Engagement in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Tatjana Slijepčević, Project Manager for Serbia. During the meeting at the University Rectorate, they discussed opportunities to further strengthen cooperation, particularly in the areas of education, development of teaching competencies, and international cooperation.
