UNIBL PMF Marks 30 Years

The Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics (PMF) of the University of Banja Luka marked 30 years of work and development on 11 September 2026 with a ceremonial academy held at Banski Dvor Cultural Centre, during which it has grown into one of the University of Banja Luka’s significant scientific and educational institutions.

Dean of the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics Prof. Goran Trbić, PhD, thanked everyone who had supported the Faculty’s development over the past three decades, emphasizing in particular the importance of the work of young colleagues.

He noted that more than 2,500 students had studied at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics of the University of Banja Luka to date.

Minister for Scientific and Technological Development and Higher Education of the Republic of Srpska Prof. Draga Mastilović, PhD, said that the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, with more than 500 students and over 80 teaching staff, had grown into a respected educational and scientific institution.

“The Republic of Srpska will continue to invest in science, as it is the backbone of technological development,” Minister Mastilović said, congratulating the Faculty on its anniversary and everything it had achieved over three decades of work.

Over its 30 years of existence, the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics has developed teaching and scientific research in numerous fields of natural and mathematical sciences, contributing to the development of higher education and the profession.

The anniversary was also an opportunity to look back on the Faculty’s development path and the achievements of generations of teaching staff, associates and students, as well as its plans for further development and the advancement of teaching and scientific research.

The Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics of the University of Banja Luka was founded in 1996, and 30 years later it is marking its anniversary as part of the University with more than 500 students and over 80 teaching staff.

The Faculty’s anniversary was thus an opportunity not only to look back at the past, but also to reaffirm its commitment to ensuring that knowledge, science and education remain among the foundations of the further development of the Republic of Srpska.

The ceremony was attended by representatives of the academic community and institutions, professors, teaching staff, associates, students and numerous guests. Among the guests were Chair of the University of Banja Luka Steering Board Prof. Biljana Antunović, PhD, as well as Acting Vice-Rectors of the University of Banja Luka Prof. Milica Balaban, PhD, Prof. Dalibor Kesić, PhD, and Prof. Kristina Pantelić Babić, PhD, Secretary General Josif Ilić, and Acting Finance Director Ljubiša Udovičić.
