The 6th Congress of the Department of Management of the SEE countries was held at the Faculty of Economics, University of Banja Luka on October 7th/8th 2016. It was organized by the University of Banja Luka and the University of Mostar, and hosted by Department of Business Economics, Management and Marketing and the Center for Project Management and Entrepreneurship at the Faculty of Economics, University of Banja Luka.
The Conference is dealing with issues of organization and management, and other related issues, such as entrepreneurship, marketing and information technology. Participants at the event were professors and staff of the Faculty of Economics and representatives of other institutions from Banja Luka, Mostar, Split, Zagreb, Pula, Osijek, Dubrovnik, Belgrade, Novi Sad, Ljubljana, East Sarajevo, Sarajevo, Zenica and Tuzla.
In introductory speech, President of the Program Committee, Prof. Dr Sasa Petkovic, Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Economics at University of Banja Luka said that it was the 6th Congress of the Department and scientific conference titled “Contemporary Entrepreneurial Management and Organization in the Digital Era in the Countries in Transition: Obstacles and Opportunities”, organized in order to continue regional cooperation among the leading faculties of economics in Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, but also to improve connections in areas of management between the most important institutions of higher education in the region.
On behalf of the co-organizers of the Conference - University of Mostar, Prof. Dr Zdenko Klepic, Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Vice-President of the Program Committee, welcomed the participants and said that one of the most important effects of cooperation between Faculties of Economics in the region was the joint book publishing.
On behalf of the University of Banja Luka, prof. Dr Biljana Antunovic, Vice-Rector for International Cooperation welcomed the participants and expressed the hope that this Conference will be categorized by the Ministries of science and technology of the Republic of Srpska and Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina in order to be more comprehensive. On behalf of the Dean of the Faculty of Economics in Banja Luka, prof. Dr. Goran Popovic, Vice Dean for Research, welcomed the participants and informed them about the accomplishments of the Faculty in the field of science and research.
The meeting began with a plenary presentation of Dr. Jasmin Komic, a professor of Economics, University of Banja Luka and the Minister of Science and Technology of the Republic of Srpska, under the title: “Transfer of Knowledge and Best Practices of Entrepreneurship in the Real Sector and Supporting the Commercialization of Innovation."
The Conference organized a round table on: The story of the cooperation between the Faculty of Economics, Center for Project Management and Entrepreneurship and IT Cluster Banja Luka."
Research papers submitted to the Conference, were presented in three parallel sessions: Management and Marketing; Corporate Governance and Enterprise and IT, will be published in the form of electronic book and in regular edition of the journal of the Faculty of Economics, University of Banja Luka Acta Economica http://www.actaeconomica.efbl.org/.
