Prof. Radoslav Gajanin was appointed Rector of the University of Banja Luka at the special session of the Senate of the University held on 22 March 2018. Expressing his gratitutde for the unanimous support of the members of the Senate, Prof. Gajanin said, 'This support is a great responsibility as well, since we feel obliged to fulfill the agenda outlined in the programme of the University for the following four years, with a special emphasis on students' issues and their standard and social status. In addition, we are going to improve the study programmes, as well as the IT system at the University, but we are going to insist on meeting the academic standards at the same time.'
He also added that the management of the University would do their best to improve the teaching process, as well as the international cooperation, with strengthening the ties between the academic and business community in the country and abroad.
‘We are going to insist on redefining the relation between the university and its member units through amendments to the Law on Higher Education of the Republic of Srpska’, said the Rector.
Furthermore, he said that the international visibility of the University was going to be one of major issues in the future, with efforts on increasing the number of scholarly papers and articles in various international journals and other publications.
‘We are also going to demand that the criteria regarding the stepping up the academic ladder be more rigorous’, concluded the Rector.
Prof. Gajanin was appointed the Acting Rector of the University of Banja Luka on 10 November 2017, having occupied the position of Vice-Rector for Scientific Research and Development prior to this appointment.
