Delegation of Saint Petersburg Mining University visited the University of Banja Luka on 18 February 2020.
The delegation from Russia was first received and welcomed by Rector of the University of Banja Luka Prof. Radoslav Gajanin, PhD. During the meeting, Rector Gajanin expressed hope that the two higher education institutions would soon sign a cooperation agreement.
According to him, the cooperation would refer to the exchange of professors, students, joint participation in science, summer schools, and additional training of our professors at this prestigious Russian university.
Rector Gajanin emphasized that the University of Banja Luka has cooperation with over 20 educational and cultural institutions from the Russian Federation, and expressed hope that cooperation with Saint Petersburg Mining University will be one of the more fruitful ones.
During the meetings, it was also noted that, according to bilateral agreements, the Faculty of Political Science, the Faculty of Security Sciences and the Faculty of Philology have good cooperation with higher education institutions from Russia. As mentioned, two groups of students from Russia are soon coming to the University of Banja Luka: 15 students are coming to the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, while another group of five students is to visit the Faculty of Philology.
Vice Rector for Property Complex of the Mining University Anatoly Suslov said that their university has existed since 1773 and that today it has eight faculties.
The delegation from Russia explained that 814 foreign students are studying at this University, thereof four students from the Republic of Srpska who, according to them, are one of the better students. This meeting was an opportunity for the management of the University of Banja Luka to get acquainted in detail with the potential cooperation between the University of Banja Luka and the Mining University.
The meeting between Rector Gajanin and the delegation of the Mining University was also attended by Vice Rector for International and Inter-University Cooperation Prof. Biljana Antunovic, PhD, Vice Rector for Teaching and Student Affairs Prof. Strain Posavljak, PhD, Vice Rector for Human and Material Resources Prof. Dalibor Kesic, PhD, and Staff and Student Exchange Officer Djordje Kenjalo. Apart from Vice Rector Suslov, the delegation of the Mining University consisted of Head of Department of Industrial Safety Rudakov Marat, Head of International Department Ajrat Erzin, Associate at the International Competence Centre for Mining Engineering Education under the auspices of UNESCO at the Mining University Maria Soldachenko and the coach of the Mining University Basketball Club, Zlatan Perišić.
Meeting with the Deans of Faculties at the University of Banja Luka
After the meeting with Rector Gajanin, guests from Russia met with the deans of seven faculties at the University of Banja Luka. At this meeting, the deans presented proposals for the specific cooperation with the Saint Petersburg Mining University.
The meeting was attended by Dean of the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics Prof. Goran Trbic, PhD, Dean of the Faculty of Economics Prof. Stanko Stanic, PhD, Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering Prof. Darko Knezevic, PhD, Dean of the Faculty of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy Prof. Brankica Milojevic, PhD, Dean of the Faculty of Philology Prof. Petar Penda, PhD, Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy Prof. Srdjan Dusanic, PhD, and Dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering Prof. Branko Blanusa, PhD.
The same day, the delegation from Russia visited the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Banja Luka, and the day before it visited the Faculty of Mining at the University of Banja Luka, seated in Prijedor.
