Philosophy Students with Children Even in Time of Pandemic

University of Banja LukaGeneral

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, a group of volunteers made up of psychology students of the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Banja Luka, started communicating and working online with the children of the Home for Children and Youth without Parental Care ’Rade Vranjesevic’.

Namely, since there is no physical contact between the children and the volunteers until further notice, thanks to donors and with the help of telephone calls, Viber messages and calls, videos, drawings, letters and now also Skype meetings, contact with the children has continued.

It should be emphasized that this activity is carried out with the dedication of educators of the nursery, preschool and youngest school groups, and especially the educators Ljubica Talijan and Zeljka Kukavica and, of course, students of the Faculty of Philosophy.

Let us be reminded that in December 2018 the students of the Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Banja Luka started visiting the youngest group of children in ’Rade Vranjesevic’ Home, as part of the Program for Encouraging Development Capacities project. At the beginning, the idea was that every child under the age of eight has someone of his or her own, someone to look forward to when they come and visit him or her, someone who will have time to learn, read, laugh and talk with him or her through play, at least once a week. As time passed by, visits became more frequent and the students started visiting the children twice, sometimes three times a week. They looked forward to meeting the children, and they enjoyed in every new success they made to which they also contributed to a certain extent.
