Minister of Spatial Planning, Construction and Ecology of the Republic of Srpska Srebrenka Golić said that, after the completion of energy rehabilitation of buildings, students and teaching staff at the University of Banja Luka will have far better conditions for teaching and work, emphasizing that nearly BAM 700,000 has been allocated for the investment at the Faculty of Economics.

,,The heating substation has been rehabilitated, which was bad in the whole complex, and it will be much better than it was in the previous years’’, Srebrenka Golić said, after visiting the Faculty of Economics of the University of Banja Luka on 30 October 2020 with the Minister for Scientific and Technological Development, Higher Education and Information Society of the Republic of Srpska Srđan Rajčević, MA, where works on energy rehabilitation are taking place.

She reminded that the energy rehabilitation works at the Faculty of Fine Arts in East Sarajevo and the Faculty of Business Studies in Trebinje were completed last year, and that the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, which was under state protection, was rehabilitated, and added that more than two million BAM were invested there.

Rajčević reminded that the Government has allocated more than BAM 120 million for the development of higher education this year.

„These do not seem to be final investments, if we take into account the energy efficiency project. I would like to thank Ms Srebrenka Golić, who is in charge of this project and who, through this project, provided the energy rehabilitation of the building of the Faculty of Economics’’, Rajčević said.

According to him, in addition to the Faculty of Economics at the University of Banja Luka, the Faculty of Technology in Zvornik will be rehabilitated in the first phase, whereas the rehabilitation of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and the Faculty of Law of the University of Banja Luka is planned in the second phase.

,,These are all infrastructure projects and their implementation will give higher education an even stronger zeal by providing better conditions for students and academic staff’’, Rajčević said.

He pointed out that this is another proof that the Government of the Republic of Srpska stands firmly on the proclaimed course of investing in the higher education sector.

,,Only through investments in higher education, in innovative fields that will bring economic benefits to the Republic of Srpska can we count on a quick way out of the economic and health crisis, and that is the path that the Republic of Srpska will take in the forthcoming years. The Government of the Republic of Srpska will do its best to make this path faster and better with such allocations and to reach the level of development of higher education that the Republic of Srpska needs’’, Rajčević emphasized.

Dean of the Faculty of Economics at the University of Banja Luka Prof. Milenko Krajišnik, PhD, assessed that the energy efficiency project implemented by the Government is very important for this higher education institution, in which long-lasting problems will be solved.

He stated that the project is being implemented in several phases, and that around BAM 700,000 will be invested in the first, and around BAM 1.5 million in the second phase.

,,Heating will start today at full capacity, and we expect that the carpentry will be replaced by the end of the year”, Krajišnik said and thanked the Government of the Republic of Srpska and the relevant ministry for including them in this project.

Vice-Rector for Material and Human Resources Prof. Dalibor Kesić, PhD, also attended the event on behalf of the University of Banja Luka.
