Prof. Smiljana Paraš published works in leading scientific magazines
General-Professor at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics of the University of Banja Luka (PMF UNIBL), Smiljana Paraš, PhD, published two significant scientific papers in prestigious international magazines in the field of medical sciences – “International Ceramics” and “Pharmaceutics”, in April 2025.
Our professor Smiljana Paraš, PhD, published scientific papers in cooperation with colleagues from the Institute of Nuclear Sciences “Vinča” and the Faculty of Stomatology of the University of Belgrade.
The first paper titled “Three-Dimensional-Printed Bone Grafts for Simultaneous Bone and Cartilage Regeneration: A Promising Approach to Osteochondral Tissue Engineering” was published in cooperation with prominent scientists Božana Petrović, Dijana Mitić, Miloš Lazarević, Mirjana Popović Bajić, Marija Živković, Milutin Mićić, Vladimir Biočanin, and Vukoman Jokanović.
The second paper, titled “Physicochemical and biological properties of bioactive calcium aluminate dental cement enriched with zirconium dioxide” was signed by authors Veljko Ilić, Đorđe Antonijević, Božana Petrović, Vladimir Biočanin, Nataša Jović Orsin, Jelena Potočnik, Miloš Milošević, Isak Trajković, Smiljana Paraš, Vukoman Jokanović, Vesna Danilović, Dejan Ćetković, and Sanja Milutinović-Smiljanić.
These scientific papers were published in magazines with high impact factor – “Pharmaceutics” (5.4) and “International Ceramics” (5.1), which puts them to the highest ranking ones in the field of applied medical sciences and research of reconstructive biocompatible materials.
It was the result of a long-standing cooperation between the PMF UNIBL and the Institute of Nuclear Sciences “Vinča” from Belgrade. Two fully new biocompatible nanomaterials have been designed and synthesized in these works, which were tested in biological experiments and animal models. The materials showed excellent results in the regeneration of bone and cartilage tissue, which opens large possibilities for their future application in human treatment.
With this success, Prof. Smiljana Paraš, PhD, and the University of Banja Luka realized a significant contribution to the scientific community, while the papers yielded a total scientific contribution of 10.5 points for the scientific biography and reputation of our higher education institution
