Professor Runić part of an American Linguistic Society program

Associate Professor at the Faculty of Philology of the University of Banja Luka, Marija Runić, PhD, was selected to participate in a scientific workshop and a long-term research project “Language, Conflict, and Peacebuilding”, in a very strong international competition.

This significant scientific event is organized by the Linguistic Society of America, and the central part of the activities will be held at the University of Washington, in Seattle, from 4 to 6 June 2026.

Professor Runić’s application was assessed as an extremely high-quality one, and original, securing her a spot among the selected worldwide experts who will map the role of linguistics and philosophy of language in the peacebuilding and conflict resolution processes.

The Commission of the American Linguistic Society pointed out that her contribution will be of key significance for the scientific Proceedings: „Language, Conflict, and Peacebuilding: Contributions from Linguistics and the Philosophy of Languageˮ, aiming to offer new scientific perspectives on actual global challenges.

Participation in this project involves continuous work within the international research group in the next 18 months, through regular virtual sessions and cooperation with colleagues from leading world universities, and the research results will be presented to the world scientific community.

This success is one more confirmation of the international visibility and scientific credibility of the teaching staff at the Faculty of Philology of the University of Banja Luka, and it contributes to strengthening the international promotion of the University as an institution that actively participates in solving the globally relevant scientific issues.
