The Vice-Rector for Human and Material Resources at the University of Banja Luka, Prof. Dalibor Kesić, PhD, and Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Banja Luka, Prof. Srđan Dušanić, PhD, will pay a working visit to Washington, in order to improve the cooperation with American universities.

During the visit organized as a part of the existing program of cooperation with institutions of the Federal state of Maryland, the delegation visited the University of Georgetown and met with the leadership of this esteemed higher education institution.

They also had a meeting with the US Congressman Steny Hoyer. The meetings were held in the Congress premises on Capitol Hill, at the invitation of Congressman Hoyer.

During the meeting, Congressman Hoyer was informed about the work and developmental potentials of the University of Banja Luka, as well as the possibilities to improve the academic cooperation. Particular emphasis was put on the significance of institutional support and the role the US administration may have in strengthening the ties between higher education institutions in the United States of America and the academic community in the Republic of Srpska and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

In the course of the visit, they also met with professors from Yale University, led by Prof. Catherine Panter-Brick, and they agreed that there is a potential for establishing cooperation, knowledge exchange, and mobility of the teaching staff and students. Representatives of these distinguished universities expressed a high interest in cooperating with the University of Banja Luka.

During their stay in the USA, the delegation had a number of meetings with representatives of the administration of the state of Maryland, headed by the State Secretary Susan C. Lee, creating additional possibilities for further development of academic and institutional cooperation.
