The manifestation Students’ Days at the University of Banja Luka (UNIBL) was formally opened on 14 April 2026 at the Students’ Cultural Center, and it will bring together several thousand students over the next ten days through a rich and diverse program.
The President of the Students’ Parliament at UNIBL, Ana Sibinčić, said it is the largest student manifestation that brings along more than 30 different events this year.
“For these ten days, we have prepared panels, lectures, workshops, and many sporting and fun activities. Special emphasis is put on the humanitarian character of collecting voluntary contributions to aid a boy suffering from cerebral paralysis, and a voluntary blood donation”, said Sibinčić.
She stressed that the central event will be Open Door Days and Faculties' Festival on April 20, when the arrival of some 2000 senior high school students from all over the Republic of Srpska is expected..
“We want to present all study programs and possibilities offered by the University to future students and help them to select their career path”, said Sibinčić.
Minister of Scientific Technological Development and Higher Education of the Republic of Srpska, Prof. Draga Mastilović, PhD, pointed at the significance of this manifestation, emphasizing that by organizing this event, students show responsibility towards the development of higher education.
“In the period 2017 to 2025, more than 14 million KM was invested into the students’ standard, and for this year it is planned to have additional investments of over 25 million KM”, said Mastilović, and reminded of measures such as tuition-free education, subsidized accommodation and meals, as well as increased scholarships, from 200 to 300 KM.
He said students are the most important strategic resource, and the goal of institutions is to motivate them to study, to stay and work in the Republic of Srpska.
The Vice-Rector for Teaching, Students’ Issues and Quality at UNIBL, Prof. Milica Balaban, PhD, emphasized that the University is not merely a learning pot, but a space for personal development.
“This event has a central position in the academic calendar and gives students an opportunity to develop skills, acquire new experiences, and build relations important for their future”, said Prof. Balaban, adding that Students’ Days additionally strengthen ties between the University and society, and reaffirm the potential of the young people.
President of the Students’ Union of the Republic of Srpska, Nikola Šobot, said that the manifestation aims to present the richness of students’ life and the many possibilities at their disposal.
The formal opening was attended by the Chairman of the UNIBL Steering Board, Prof. Biljana Antunović, PhD, Vice-Rector for International and Inter-University Cooperation, Prof. Kristina Pantelić Babić, PhD, along with Deans and professors of our faculties.
Just to remind, April at the University of Banja Luka is traditionally reserved for this event, which will last until 24 April this year. During the ten days, the university Campus and many locations in the city become a place of encounter of young people, ideas and talents, with the program that unifies educational, cultural, sporting, and humanitarian events, including the students’ sports games.
The event is organized by the Student Parliament of the University of Banja Luka and the Students’ Union of the Republic of Srpska, supported by the University of Banja Luka and the Ministry of Scientific Technological Development and Higher Education of the Republic of Srpska.
