More than 2.500 high school graduates from around the Republic of Srpska gathered on 20 April 2026 for the Open Doors Day at the University of Banja Luka (UNIBL), an event that attracts a lot of attention among future students every year.
Simultaneously with this event, there was the Faculties’ Festival, which is a significant professional orientation opportunity for the graduates, allowing them to directly get acquainted with study programs, teaching personnel, and students’ life.
Rector of the University of Banja Luka, Prof. Radoslav Gajanin, PhD, pointed out that all the faculties had a chance to present their programs and provide the high school graduates with detailed information about the studies of their interest.
“Public Universities in the Republic of Srpska offer quality education and competencies”, said Gajanin at the opening ceremony, adding that the University plans to enroll about 2.600 students this year.
Assistant Minister for Higher Education of the Republic of Srpska, Dr. Jelena Starčević, pointed out that Open Doors Day is an efficient way to present the possibilities offered by the University.
“We offer free-of-charge studies in all study programs, quotas are high, so there is a good chance for future students to be on state budget financing. There is also free-of-charge accommodation in dormitories for students coming from outside Banja Luka”, said Starčević.
President of Students’ Parliament at the University of Banja Luka, Ana Sibinčić, confirmed that the opening ceremony was attended by more than 1.500 high school graduates, while the President of the Students’ Union of the Republic of Srpska, Nikola Šobot, said that the goal of this event was to gather the graduates and help them with the selection of their future calling.
“We want to create new ideas in our classrooms that will shape life in the Republic of Srpska”, said Šobot.
To remind you, these events are a part of the traditional manifestation Students’ Days, the largest student event in the Republic of Srpska, organized by the Student Parliament of the University of Banja Luka and Students’ Union of the Republic of Srpska, supported by the University of Banja Luka and the Ministry of Scientific Technological Development and Higher Education of the Republic of Srpska.
