The international scientific conference “Challenges and Prospects for the Development of Legal Systems in the 21st Century” was held on 15 May 2026 at the Faculty of Law, University of Banja Luka.

The event was traditionally organized in co-organization with the International Cathedra for Bioethics and brought together more than 150 participants from 24 countries. Representing the University of Banja Luka at the event was Vice-Rector for Human and Material Resources Prof. Dalibor Kesić, PhD.

Conference participants discussed numerous challenges facing contemporary legal systems, both globally and within the Republic of Srpska, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the region. Particular emphasis was placed on the role of the academic community in finding scientifically grounded responses to current social and legal challenges.

During the event, numerous scientific presentations and discussions were held in various fields of law, with a special focus on bioethical topics and contemporary challenges in medical and health law.

The conference was organized in partnership with the Faculty of Law, University of Belgrade, the Institute of Comparative Law, the Center for Bioethical Studies, and the Association of Lawyers for Medical and Health Law of Serbia.

The organizers of the conference, held for the sixth time, emphasized that the event represents an important platform for the exchange of scientific experience, strengthening international cooperation, and encouraging the further development of legal science and practice.
