Rector meeting with Minister Malesevic

On 6 July 2018, Prof. Radoslav Gajanin, PhD, Rector of the University of Banja Luka, met with Mr Dane Malesevic, Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Srpska, to discuss the results of recent entrance exams and subsequent enrollment at first cycle academic studies, as well as other current topics.

Minister Malesevic pointed out the necessity for creating conditions for viable higher education, oriented towards scientific research and harmonized with the social, economic, and cultural needs of the Republic of Srpska.

‘The enrollment policy at higher education institutions must be a reflection of strategic directions in the area and labour market demands’, said Minister Malesevic, urging the aforementioned institutions to be more realistic in terms of planning the respective enrollment quotas.

There were some current topics discussed at the meeting, such as overtime work, curriculum monitoring, offering teaching assistant positions to best students, and alike.

In the end, the participants reflected on the existing cooperation between the two institutions, outlining the forthcoming activities in the same direction.

The meeting was also attended by Prof. Goran Latinovic, PhD, Vice-Rector for Scientific Research and Development, Prof. Strain Posavljak, PhD, Vice-Rector for Education and Students’ Affairs, Mr Dusko Lazic, Financial Director of the University, and Mr Novica Mitrovic, Head of Staff of the Ministry.
