UNIBL Participates in Summer School of Forensic Chemistry
Science and development

Representatives of the University of Banja Luka (UNIBL) from the Chemistry Study Program at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics participated in the international Summer School “Forensic Chemistry”, held from 22 to 26 June 2026 in Pardubice, Czech Republic, within the framework of the Erasmus+ ChemTeach project.

During the intensive five-day program, students and teachers from the Republic of Srpska, Slovakia, and the Czech Republic worked on a simulated forensic case by applying various laboratory methods. They analyzed evidence collected from a crime scene, interpreted analytical results, prepared presentations, and ultimately took part in a mock court trial.

Working in international teams, the participants expanded their knowledge of forensic chemistry, enhanced their analytical thinking, laboratory and digital competencies, and further developed teamwork and communication skills. The program also included a workshop on the application of virtual reality technologies in education, presenting new opportunities for modern teaching and learning.

In addition to the academic component of the program, participants explored the Czech Republic's cultural and historical heritage through a tour of Pardubice and a study visit to Prague, where they visited the Police Museum and the Museum of Alchemists and Magicians of Old Prague.

The Summer School in Pardubice marked the final international activity within the Erasmus+ ChemTeach project, following similar schools organized in Slovakia and the Republic of Srpska. The project focuses on improving chemistry education by developing innovative teaching methods, practical work, and digital resources, and strengthening cooperation between universities and secondary schools.

As one of the project partners, the University of Banja Luka actively contributes to the implementation of project activities together with the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava - the project coordinator, partner institutions from Slovakia and the Czech Republic, as well as secondary schools from Banja Luka – the Grammar School, the Medical School, and the School of Technology.

Through its participation in this project, the University of Banja Luka has once again reaffirmed its commitment to the development of modern education, strengthening international cooperation, and promoting the exchange of knowledge and good practices in the field of education.
