Learning objectives
The purpose and aim of the course is establishing and acquisition of fundamental knowledge in physics necessary for the subsequent adoption of the content of specialized courses in geodesy.

Basic physical quantities and measuring units. Scalars and vectors. Operations with vectors. Kinematics. Translational linear motion. 2D and projectile motion. Relative motion. Rotational motion. Angular displacement, velocity and acceleration. Rotational motion of a rigid body around fixed axis. Newton laws of dynamics. Galileo’s principle of relativity. The basic principle of dynamics. Impulse. Collision of two particles. Basic concepts of rotational dynamics. Moment of inertia. Angular momentum. Momentum. The energy of rotational motion. Work. Kinetic energy. Conservative forces and potential energy. Mechanical energy. Power. Conservation law of impulse. Conservation law of mechanical energy. Newton’s law of gravity. Body weight. Gravitation field. Evaluation and grading
Written exam (Test 1 + Test 2) = 60 points, Final oral exam = 40 points
Specific remarks
Students are required to attend classes and pass every assessment through semester. In order to qualify for the final exam students must achieve at least 80% attendance. Students are required to achieve a minimum of 51% of maximum points for each test in order to qualify for the final exam. Tests will be held during the semester and their makeup in examination period. The final exam will be held in the examination period.
