The aim of the course is to acquaint the mining students with the legal regulation on labour safety, potential dangers that can occur in the mines, technical protection measures to prevent them, and how to organize a mine rescue service, create an action plan and save a mine and provide first aid to the injured workers. | ||||
Learning outcomes | ||||
The student will to acquire the skills for practical and theoretical knowledge related to the organization and implementation of labour safety in the mining companies, preparation of appropriate instructions, company documents, reports and analyzes in the field of labour safety, fire protection plans, action plans and rescue of labours, choosing of the necessary works fire equipment and means for extinguishing fires, means of collective and personal safety equipment. Comprehensive assessment of potential hazards and taking a specific measures to prevent them in all techological processes of surface and underground exploitation of mineral ore materials, mineral processing of ores, including the selection of equipment for the prevention and early detection of the potential hazards and procedures for their elimination. Training for labour rescuing and material resource in case of accidents in mines, handling of filtration and isolative devices and devices for reviving people, providing first aid to injured workers and taking all necessary measures to protect life and health of people and property. | ||||

Objective, task and development of safety at work. Normative regulation of technical safety in the Republic of Srpska and international frameworks Ergonomics. Injuries at work. Mining risks and their assessment Occupational diseases. Mine gases (O2, CO2, CO, H2S, NO, NO2, CH4, etc) Technical protection measures against suffocating, toxic and explosive gases Control of the mine air composition. Dust in mines Explosivity of mine dust. Technical protection measures against the harmful effects of mine dust Fires in mines. Technical protection measures and mine fire control procedures Explosions in mines and technical protection measures. Dynamic phenomena in mines and technical protection measures Water inflow and grain materials into mine premises and technical protection measures. The climate of the mining working environment Noise, vibrations and technical protection measures against their harmful effects.
