On May 23, 2017, at the Faculty of Political Sciences, a lecture titled ‘China – belt and road’ was given by three distinguished professors from China: prof. dr. Yu Jun, prof. dr. Tang Aijun and prof.dr. Guo Wei, with the aim of informing the political, academic and economic establishment and dignitaries of the Republic of Srpska on the current trends in China in the respective fields. Topics of the lectures were: "The initiative 'belt and road' and the Chinese diplomacy," "China's economy and the world's economy" and "China's reform and development."
The host of the event, Prof. Zdravko Zlokapa, Dean of the Faculty, pointed out that the benefits of the lecture could be summarized under three labels, intellectual, political and economic, whereas Her Excellence Chen Bo, Chinese ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina, gave an inspired speech, thanking both the hosts and distinguished guests and elaborating on the Chinese global diplomatic initiative titled ‘Belt and road’ and the recent summit in Beijing.
Ms Bo also added that people usually spoke of the Chinese model, but that the Chinese themselves would prefer the term road, since the model implies something that can be copied. ‘With regard to it, I would like to emphasize that we in China have achieved a lot in the past 40 years, but all these efforts could be narrowed down to finding one’s own road based upon one’s own experiences’, maintained Ms Bo.
Referring to the said global initiative and its consequences for the Republic of Srpska, Mr Milorad Dodik, President of the Republic of Srpska, highlighted the fact that the Republic of Srpska’s cooperation with China was at an excellent level, and constantly broadening in many fields, expressing his gratitude for the interest Chinese companies show for investments into the infrastructure in the Republic of Srpska.
