The Faculty of Economics at the University of Banja Luka celebrated 44 years of existence

On February 6, 2019, the Faculty of Economics at the University of Banja Luka celebrated 44 years of excellence with a graduation ceremony for bachelor and master students.

Addressing the attendees, Prof. Radoslav Gajanin, PhD, Rector of the University of Banja Luka, points out that the Faculty of Economics is one of the most recognizable faculties at the University because of the quality of its teaching staff and the students, as well as for its management team who achieved good results in the past period and operated well with this higher education institution.

He especially congratulated the graduates who obtained their diplomas at this faculty.

"I want you to continue your education at the Faculty of Economics and the University of Banja Luka. In your further advancement, you can count on the help of your professors at the Faculty of Economics and the University ", said Rector Gajanin.

We expect numerous challenges in the coming period, says the Rector.

“I expect maximum commitment from the Faculty’s management team on the road to fulfillment of the strategic goals of the University”, says Prof. Gajanin.

Prof. Stanko Stanić, PhD, Dean of the Faculty of Economics in Banja Luka, announced the continuing changes in the curriculum due to a required internship in the junior year, which will also be required in the sophomore year starting next academic year.

"We believe that this way we will make it possible for future graduates to be better prepared than the previous generations when it comes to solving specific business tasks from their first working days," said Dean Stanić at the 44th anniversary of the Faculty of Economics.

He stated that the Faculty of Economics is one of the best and the oldest faculties at the University of Banja Luka.

With an average grade of 9.8, Dušica Bosančić is the best student in the generation at the Faculty of Economics.

She said that each student must have will, persistence and confidence in order to succeed.

She stated that she is currently enrolled in Master program, works at the Unicredit bank, and plans on staying in the country as long as her talent is being recognized. As a reward for hard work and advocacy Bosančić received a laptop, and awards and honors were also presented to other deserving individuals.

Among other important attendees there were Radmila Pejić, associate of the Minister for higher education, Prof. Goran Latinovic, PhD, Vice-Rector for Scientific Research and Development, Prof. Luka Kecman, PhD, Vice-Rector for Human and Material Resources, Prof. Billjana Antunovic, PhD, Vice-Rector for International and Interuniversity cooperation, Prof. Strain Posavljak, PhD, Vice-Rector for Teaching and Student Issues.

The decision on establishing the Faculty of Economics of the University of Banja Luka was made on February 6, 1975, by the Municipal Assembly of Banja Luka, at the joint session of the Council of Associated Labor, the Social and Political Council, and the Council of Local Communities. The foreground of the Faculty of Economics was set by the Center of the Faculty of Economics in Rijeka with a branch in Banja Luka in 1961, which encouraged young people to study economics.

The legal foundation of today's Faculty was the establishment of a department of the Economic Faculty from Sarajevo in Banja Luka, which took place on November 1, 1974.
