Faculty of Electrical Engineering is Working on the Bus Tracking Application Project

University of Banja LukaGeneral

Users of public transport in Banja Luka, who travel on lines 10 and 13, will soon be able to track the movement of buses and get all important information about transport through the "BL Bus Tracker" application, which is being developed by the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, University of Banja Luka and "Autoprevoz" company.

It is an application that will provide the users of public transport on these lines with useful information about the current location of the bus, regular and emergency routes, estimated time of arrival of the bus at the selected stop, and other useful information.

The goal is to motivate citizens to use public transport more often through this application, which would reduce traffic jams and exhaust emissions, and increase the number of parking lots in the city.

The project team working on the application development, under the mentorship of Prof. Dražen Brđanin, PhD, is comprised of the students of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the University of Banja Luka: Aleksandar Bosančić, Dragan Jović, Filip Stojaković, and Senior Teaching Assistant Danijela Banjac, MA.

They are also engaged in the development of the information system of "Autoprevoz", which will enable a simpler and faster implementation of this project.

The plan is to integrate the "BL Bus Tracker" application with the "Autoprevoz" information system, which collects data on bus positions in the experimental phase. The final version of the application that will work on Android phones should be available in 2021, when it can be downloaded from the Google play store.

This activity is implemented within the project supported with BAM 50,000 by the United Nations Development Programme / UNDP / in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
