Faculty of Economics and Faculty of Law Marked the 48th Anniversary

With the Solemn Academies held on 6 February 2023, the Faculty of Economics and the Faculty of Law of the University of Banja Luka marked 48 years of their successful work and development.

Rector of the University of Banja Luka Prof. Radoslav Gajanin, PhD, stated that the Faculty of Law and the Faculty of Economics have been recording progress in all areas of education, especially in the quality of the practical part and the teaching process.

,,Our lawyers and economists are sought after on the labour market and almost immediately after graduation they manage to find a job", Gajanin emphasized.

As he stated, through various project activities, professors and teaching assistants of this faculty go to other universities with which cooperation agreements have been signed.

He said that the Faculty of Economics and the Faculty of Law has the full support of the Rector's Team in improving working and studying conditions in the forthcoming period.

Minister for Scientific and Technological Development, Higher Education and Information Society of the Republic of Srpska Željko Budimir pointed out today that the Faculty of Law of the University helps the development of the Republic of Srpska.

"After completing their studies, many students of this faculty entered the judicial system of the Republic of Srpska and helped defend the jurisdiction of the Republic of Srpska in the post-war period", Budimir said.

Budimir pointed out that the Faculty of Law, together with the Faculty of Economics, is the backbone of the University of Banja Luka.

Dean of the Faculty of Law Željko Mirjanić stated that in the past 48 years this higher education institution has demonstrated that it successfully performs its teaching, teaching-research and professional functions.

"Our staff and former students perform the most important legal functions in the Republic of Srpska and very successfully create our legal life", Mirjanić stressed.

Mirjanić is satisfied with the enrolment of students in all three study cycles at the Faculty of Law of the University of Banja Luka.

Dean of the Faculty of Economics Prof. Milenko Krajišnik, PhD, says that by ten percent more students have enrolled in this faculty.

"With the support of the relevant Ministry, the Rectorate and the Government of the Republic of Srpska, we are trying to create the best possible conditions for studying, from technical assumptions to staffing.", the dean of the Faculty of Economics Prof. Milenko Krajišnik, PhD, said.

On the occasion of the faculties’ anniversary, graduates of the first and second cycle of studies were also promoted. Thus, at the Faculty of Law, 82 graduates of the first and six graduates of the second cycle of study were promoted, and at the Faculty of Economics, 85 graduates of the first and nine graduates of the second cycle of study were promoted.

Among those present at the ceremony at the Faculty of Economics was the Minister of Finance of the Republic of Srpska Zora Vidović, while President of the Academy of Sciences and Arts of the Republic of Srpska Academician Prof. Rajko Kuzmanović, PhD, attended the ceremony at the Faculty of Law. Mayor of Banja Luka Draško Stanivuković, vice-rectors and deans of the University of Banja Luka, members of the Academy of Sciences and Arts of the Republic of Srpska, representatives of the business sector, the academic community and the judiciary ere also among those present at the ceremony.
