Five Years of Work of the ‘Dental Clinic’ Specialist Centre Marked

Five years of successful work of the ‘Dental Clinic’ Specialist Centre was marked on 17 May 2023.

Rector of the University of Banja Luka Prof. Radoslav Gajanin, PhD, said that the Dental Clinic has been progressing year after year in regard to top equipment and staff.

"Our strategic goal was for the University, i.e. its members, to enter the market, and the biggest step forward was made by the Faculty of Medicine with the organizational unit 'Dental Clinic', which today provides excellent services", the rector said and emphasized that in this clinic, students are provided with appropriate space where they will gain practical skills, and residents from different dental branches are provided with space where they will gain practical knowledge.

Minister for Scientific and Technological Development, Higher Education and Information Society of the Republic of Srpska Asst. Prof. Željko Budimir, PhD, says that the ‘Dental Clinic’ has excellent equipment and the expectations are that this institution will become a base for residents in the region.

He emphasized that everything that can be seen in the ‘Dental Clinic’ is for the benefit of the citizens of the Republic of Srpska, but also of the University of Banja Luka and science, and that complicated interventions that even the leading private clinics working in the field of dental medicine are not able to do can be undertaken there.

"It is a combination of science and profession that gives a result that copes with the market demand, but also with our health system. The market has a need for profit, and here you work along with the system. Health security is one of the important aspects of security and the Government of Srpska is trying to follow these trends in the region and the world." Budimir stressed.

The ‘Dental Clinic’, in addition to being a scientific base, provides health care in the field of dental medicine at the primary and secondary level. Today, it has a contract on health care provision signed with the Health Insurance Fund of the Republic of Srpska and another 22 health institutions.

As stated by the dean of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Banja Luka, Prof. Ranko Škrbić, PhD, in five years at this clinic, more than 82,000 examinations were completed and nearly six thousand mobility orthopedic aids, i.e., tooth braces and 387 fixed braces were made.

The dean emphasized that the ‘Dental Clinic’ has 31 dental chairs, and that 71 workers are employed there. According to the dean, 109 doctors have successfully completed their specialties here so far.

The event dedicated to five years of work of the ‘Dental Clinic’ was attended by Vice-Rector for Material and Human Resources Prof. Dalibor Kesić, PhD, and Secretary General to the University of Banja Luka Đorđe Markez, MSc, Director of the Republic of Srpska Health Insurance Fund Dejan Kusturić, Director of the Banja Luka Health Centre Dr. Nevena Todorović, and the deans and vice-deans of the University of Banja Luka.
