Reception for the Students from Poland

On 16 May 2023, Rector of the University of Banja Luka Prof. Radoslav Gajanin, PhD, met with a group of 13 students and two professors from the Department of Serbian and Croatian Language of the University of Wroclaw.

During the meeting in the Rectorate of the University of Banja Luka, Rector Gajanin presented our higher education institution and the activities we carry out to the guests.

As pointed out during this meeting, the cooperation between the University of Banja Luka and Polish universities has lasted since 2004. In addition to the University of Wroclaw, the University of Banja Luka has cooperation with the University of Gdańsk, the University of Opole, the Academy of Applied Sciences in Warsaw, the University of Katowice, etc. As agreed, in the forthcoming period, efforts will be made to strengthen and restore the already established cooperation.

During their visit to Banja Luka, a group of students from the second to fifth year of study and professors from the University of Wroclaw stayed at the Faculty of Philology, and their plan was to also visit the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics.

The meeting was also attended by Vice-Rector for International and Interuniversity Cooperation of the University of Banja Luka Prof. Milica Balaban, PhD, Dean of the Faculty of Philology Prof. Biljana Babić, PhD, Vice-President of the Students’ Parliament of the University of Banja Luka Nikola Šobot, President of the Association of Proofreaders of the Republic of Srpska Aleksandra Savić, MA, and President of the Association of Poles Banja Luka Danijel Kovč.

Today, the University of Wrocław is the largest university in the Lower Silesia region of Poland and teaches over 22,000 students. This is one of the oldest European universities, which has so far produced eleven Nobel Prize winners in different fields. The university has ten faculties, including the Faculty of Philology and the Institute for Slavic Studies, where the Serbian language is taught.
