On 31 May 2023, Rector of the University of Banja Luka Prof. Radoslav Gajanin, PhD, and Rector of the University of Havana Miriam Nikado Garcia signed an Agreement on Cooperation between the two universities.
As set out in the text of the Agreement signed in Havana, cooperation will be in the form of the exchange and mobility of researchers, teaching and administrative staff, and students of all study cycles.
We will work on the development and advancement of the teaching process, with a focus on new study programmes and curricula, but also on joint educational, research, professional and artistic projects, as well as on innovations and the transfer of knowledge and technologies. The agreement signed for a period of five years envisages cooperation on programmes of lifelong and professional training, and the organization of educational, scientific and professional conferences, as well as joint publishing activities.
It is important to emphasize that the University of Havana was founded in 1728 and is the oldest university in the Americas, comprising of sixteen faculties at which aapproximately 60,000 students study.
Rector Gajanin and Vice-Rector for Material and Human Resources Prof. Dalibor Kesić, PhD, who is also in Havana, took part in the International Scientific Conference of the University of Havana. Namely, this international conference is dedicated to 295 years of successful work of the University of Havana and takes place from 29 May to 2 June 2023.
At this conference, Rector Gajanin and Vice-Rector Kesić gave a lecture on the role of scientific research in modern society to the rectors of leading universities from Cuba and South America.
This conference, intended for scientists, the academic community, businessmen and students, was organized on the topics of biotechnology, biomedical sciences, renewable energy sources, environmental protection, as well as other relevant topics related to modern society.
As a reminder, the day before Rector Gajanin and Rector of the University of Medical Sciences of Havana Prof. Mayrim Lao Cueia, PhD, signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the two higher education institutions.
