University of Banja LukaGeneral

Vice-Rector for Scientific Research and Development of the University of Banja Luka Prof. Aleksandar Ostojić, PhD, participated in the 8 th Rector`s Forum of Southeast Europe and the Western Balkans, held on 30 and 31 May 2024 at the University of Sarajevo.

It is an event held at the University of Sarajevo that brought together 54 representatives from 21 institutions, eight of which were rectors and 12 vice-rectors, the aim of which is to strengthen cooperation between universities in Southeast Europe and the Western Balkans in the fields of education, research and innovation.

The first day of the Rector's Forum was dedicated to topics related to the future of universities.

The second day of the Forum was in the light of the 4th EUTOPIA MORE Western Balkans Workshop. The workshop focused on research funding at the international, national and institutional levels.

During that workshop, representatives of the Slovenian Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation and representatives of regional universities presented examples of research funding, practices and challenges they face.

As agreed, the members of the Rector`s Forum will meet again in September this year, at the University of Bitola, to discuss the possibility of creating a corporate identity for the Forum and
new initiatives for membership.

It should certainly be emphasized that the regional cooperation within the Rector`s Forum started several years ago, and in the past years the universities worked together to ensure the successful work of the Forum as an important key regional network of higher education.
