University of Banja Luka Made a New Progress on the Webometrics World Ranking

University of Banja Luka has progressed by 53 places on the Webometrics Ranking of World Universities.

As set out in the latest Webometrics report for the period from January 2024 to July 2024, the University of Banja Luka remained on the second place on the ranking list of higher education institutions from Bosnia and Herzegovina and is ranked 2710th among the overall ranked universities worldwide.

It is certainly important to emphasize that the University of Banja Luka is making constant progress in this ranking. For example, the University of Banja Luka has progressed by 2124 positions from July 2017 up to date. In 2017, the University of Banja Luka was ranked seventh in Bosnia and Herzegovina and was at the 4834th place among the overall ranked universities worldwide.

The Webometrics is a recognized ranking system for the world’s universities, developed and updated twice a year by the Cybermetrics Lab, a research group of the Spanish National Research Council. There are 31,000 world universities ranked, and in the ranking methodology process analysis is made in three categories, as follows: University visibility, presence and the global academic performance. Harvard University and Stanford University from the USA, followed by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), are traditionally ranked the first place on the Webometrics World Ranking.

The goal of this type of ranking is to increase the web presence of academic and research institutions and to promote free access to the results of scientific research. Thus, the Webometrics position of a university depends on the volume and quality of accessible and transparent content produced by that academic institution, from highly cited web publications to all other content that includes reports, conferences, theses, seminars, digital libraries, and other publications of the university and its faculties, departments, researchers and students.
