Enable understanding of important laws and methods of Mechanics, with emphasis on statics. Develop creativity and ability to understand, formulate and solve engineering problems independently. | ||||

Introduction. Fundamental terms. Bernoulli-Euler hypothesis. Reference strains of the beam axis. Thermic strain. Section forces. Coordinate transformation. Differential equations of equilibrium. Solution procedure. Independent kinematic and strain quantities. Elements of a structure. Static classification. Compatibility conditions. Kinematic classification. Structural analysis of statically determined structures. Solution methods. Basic types of structural systems. Simple beam, cantilever, three-hinged arch, three-hinged arch with imaginary hinge. Evaluation and grading | ||||
It is compulsory to solve and defend 2 project assignments during the semester. The projects must be submitted and defended by the start of next semester. If the students do not pass colloquiums during the semester, they can take correctional colloquiums during the regular examination period. |
