A Conference co-organized by the Polytechnic University of Timisoara and the University of Banja Luka

On May 10-12, 2017, in the city of Hunedoara, Romania, the International Conference on Applied Sciences – ICAS 2017 was co-organized by the Polytechnic University of Timisoara and the University of Banja Luka on the premises of the Faculty of Engineering.

More than 200 participants from Bosnia and Herzegovina (the Republic of Srpska), Serbia, Romania, Bulgaria, USA, Germany, Austria, and France took part, with institutions such as the Academy of Romanian Scientists, the Academy of Arts and Sciences of the Republic of Srpska, the Academy of Technical Sciences (the Timisoara office), and the Romanian National Association of Journalists (the Hunedoara branch) helping in organization.

At the event focused on the influence of applied sciences and technologies on various industries, there were several papers presented by the professors and researchers of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Electrical Engineering, and Faculty of Sciences respectively of the University of Banja Luka. As for the programme of the conference, there were panel sessions centred around the respective fields of materials science, mechatronics, electrical engineering, and computing.

In addition, the conference was attended by His Excellence Mile Vasic, PhD, the ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina to Romania, and  the representatives of several government and non-governmental institutions of the Republic of Srpska, taking preparatory steps for the organization of the next ICAS conference, to be held in the city of Banja Luka, the Republic of Srpska, in 2018, under the auspices of the aforementioned institutions and the WUHAN University from China.
