A New Convocation of the Students’ Parliament Constituted

The president of the new convocation of the Student Parliament of the University of Banja Luka is Radovan Jalić, a student at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering.

As decided at the constitutive session, held on 12 January 2022 at the Rectorate of the University of Banja Luka, the following are vice-presidents of the Parliament: Vladan Gačić, student of the Faculty of Medicine, and Mladen Jeličić, student of the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, while the function of the secretary has been entrusted to Milica Polić, student of the Faculty of Philology. In the next year, Vladimir Ivković from the Faculty of Technology will be the student representative on the Steering Board of the University of Banja Luka. Also, members of the University Senate were elected from among the students.

Rector of the University of Banja Luka Prof. Radoslav Gajanin, PhD, emphasizes that cooperation with student representatives is at an enviable level.

,,In the past period, we have implemented several joint projects with student representatives. Despite the pandemic, the students managed to carry out a number of activities in 2021, which was supported by the rector's team.“,  the rector stated and emphasized that students can still expect full support for all those good ideas. 

As he said, activities related to the improvement of student standards, study conditions and teaching at the University will be continued in cooperation with student representatives. 

Radovan Jalić, who led the Parliament a year earlier, says that this parliament will continue to advocate for a better student standard at the University, and announced a number of new activities. 

President of the Student Union of the Republic of Srpska Nikola Bojić said that the new convocation of the Students’ Parliament represents the security of Banja Luka and the Republic of Srpska. 

,,Students expressed great interest in all the activities that we carried out in the previous period together with our colleagues from the University of Banja Luka Students’ Parliament, which is a sign that we have done a good job together.“, Bojić stated, stressing that they will continue the successful cooperation in order to bring all activities closer to as many students as possible. 

Students’ Parliament of the University of Banja Luka is a student representative, established in April 2008, consisting of representatives of all University members. Members of the Students’ Parliament have a one-year mandate, and students are elected by direct and secret voting. All regular students enrolled in the current academic year are entitled to elect and be elected a member of the Students’ Parliament. The goal of every student organization, including the Students’ Parliament of the University of Banja Luka, is to protect the rights of students and fight for better study conditions.
