About KM 400,000 will be allocated for the energy efficiency project at the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Banja Luka, which will include the renovation of the facade with thermal insulation, replacement of dilapidated carpentry and construction of an elevator that can be used by persons with disabilities.

This was stated on 15 February 2022 at the meeting of the Rector of the University of Banja Luka Prof. Radoslav Gajanin, PhD, and the Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy Prof. Srđan Dušanić, PhD, with the Minister of Spatial Planning, Construction and Ecology in the Government of the Republic of Srpska Srebrenka Golić and the Minister of Scientific and Technological Development, Higher Education and Information Society in the Government of the Republic of Srpska Srđan Rajčević, MA.

Rector Gajanin says that a lot is being invested in the University by the Government of the Republic of Srpska.
,,We are constructing a building in which the Faculty of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy and the Faculty of Forestry are to be located. The construction of the theatre stage in the IV pavilion of ’Nikola Tesla’ Student Centre has started, and I hope that the construction of the future preschool education centre, which will be a sub-organizational unit of the Faculty of Philosophy, will begin this year,” the rector said and pointed out that this year is a year of capital investments at the University of Banja Luka.

According to the rector, so far, the building of the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics and the ’Dental Clinic’ Specialist Centre has got thermal insulation through the energy efficiency project. The rector announced that in the forthcoming period the building in which the Rectorate and the Academy of Art are located will also get thermal insulation.

Minister Srebrenka Golić emphasizes that this is one in a series of energy efficiency projects implemented by the Government through the Ministry of Spatial Planning, Construction and Ecology.

,,The first phase of the energy efficiency project, in which we renovated 33 facilities across the Republic of Srpska, was completed two years ago. In the second phase, we plan to renovate 40 buildings,“ Golić said, pointing out that this project is financed by the World Bank loan and a grant from the Green Climate Fund.

As she pointed out, additional non-refundable funds are required in order to expand that list of facilities for rehabilitation.

,,Thermal insulation of institutions is of great importance because it implies 30-50 percent savings of material costs, while the installation of an elevator is a must and has to be done according to all legal regulations for persons with disabilities,” she said.

Minister Rajčević says that the Faculty of Philosophy constitutes a pillar of higher education, given that it educates future educators.

Rajčević expressed satisfaction, as he has witnessed the capital transformation of the Faculty of Philosophy. As he stated, the Faculty of Philosophy perceives the present and the future of the Republic of Srpska, that is, its development in the right way. According to Minister Rajčević, about 6,500 students have graduated from this faculty so far.

Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy Prof. Srđan Dušanić, PhD, says that this has been one of the most significant investments at this faculty since its establishment, and expressed gratitude to all those who contributed to the implementation of this project.

,,As for to its activities and their diversity, the Faculty of Philosophy is certainly one of the most dynamic faculties at the University and beyond,“ he said and expressed hope that the works will be completed by the beginning of the new academic year.
