Faculty of Forestry Marked its Jubilee
University of Banja LukaGeneralBy the international scientific conference entitled ’Perspectives of Forestry and Related Sectors as Drivers of Sustainable Development in the Post Covid Era’, opened on 29 September 2022, the Faculty of Forestry of the University of Banja Luka and the Public Forest Enterprise ’Forests of the Republic of Srpska’ marked 30 years of existence.
Rector of the University of Banja Luka Prof. Radoslav Gajanin, PhD, said that the Faculty of Forestry is an important member of the University and that it has notable presence in international projects and publications.
,,This is the result of careful selection of personnel who enter the academic community at this Faculty, and they will continue to have the support of the University for this in the future as well.”, the rector said.
He expressed the expectation that in March of next year the Faculty of Forestry, together with the Faculty of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy, could be moved to a new building in the University Campus.
Dean of the Faculty of Forestry Prof. Marijana Kapović Solomun, PhD, said that the focus of the conference is the cooperation between science and practice. She said that more than 100 participants registered for this two-day conference, and that 130 papers from more than 12 countries in Europe and the region had been approved.
She stated that this Faculty is improving its daily cooperation with the Public Forest Enterprise ’Forests of the Republic of Srpska’, since forestry as a science and profession should always connect key institutions for the benefit of forests and sustainable forest management.
Director of the Public Forest Enterprise ’Forests of the Republic of Srpska’ Slaven Gojković praised the cooperation with the Faculty of Forestry, and expressed his hope that the cooperation will be even better in the future. Cooperation with the Faculty of Forestry of the University of Banja Luka at this event was also praised by Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management of the Republic of Srpska Prof. Boris Pašalić, PhD. He stated, among other things, that our Faculty of Forestry can count on the support of the Ministry in the future, and announced cooperation on new projects.
At the ceremony in ’Bosna’ Hotel in Banja Luka, the Faculty of Forestry also awarded plaques to institutions that have helped the development of this Faculty, and the University of Banja Luka was among those who had received a plaque. Among those present were Vice-Rectors of the University of Banja Luka Prof. Miroslav Malinović, PhD, and Prof. Strain Posavljak, PhD, Adviser to the Minister in the Ministry for Scientific and Technological Development, Higher Education and Information Society Prof. Željana Jovičić, PhD, and other guests.
